Chart Eight Test
| Phase 2 Starts on | Phase 3 Starts on | Next Cycle Starts on | Total Days Difference in Cycle from CCL | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fertility Monitor | Day 10 | Day 20 | Day 28 | -1 |
| CCL | Day 9 | Day 20 | Day 28 | Zero |
| Life Cycle's Fertility Predictor | Day 6 | Day 20 | Day 28 | -3 |
The Fertility Monitor message for day 9 urges no coitus on that day even though the lady is officially in phase one. This saves the Fertility Monitor from making a fatal error of one day by remaining in phase one instead of going to phase two. If the message is heeded, day 10 can register mucus without any interference from seminal residue. This in fact happens on day 10. The "w" on day 9 would normally be interpreted as mucus and consequently the start of phase two except for the fact that coitus is reported on day 8; this postpones a phase two interpretation until mucus appears in the absence of any coitus the day before.
CCL prefers to resolve the doubtful day 9 as a phase two day after the fact while the Fertility Monitor resolves it as a phase one day, also after the fact, but with a cautionary message to the user. Had day 10 been a dry day, both schools of thought, regardless of nomenclature, would have kept the lady in phase one.
